YOUNG, BOLD, EXPRESSIVE

New Era Quartet

Tradition and innovation meet in sound

Young musicians united by artistic dialogue

Balkan heritage meets contemporary classical sound

NEW ERA QUARTET is an ensemble of young musicians from diverse cultural backgrounds, united by a shared artistic vision: to create music as a space of dialogue, connection, and emotional expression. Enthusiastic and determined, the quartet embodies a true “New Era”. One in which tradition and innovation meet.

Formed in 2021 at the Giuseppe Tartini Conservatory of Trieste, the quartet brings together musicians from Bosnia and Herzegovina/Serbia, Montenegro and Italy. In a remarkably short time, New Era Quartet established itself on the international scene, receiving important recognition at several prestigious competitions. In 2022, the ensemble was awarded First Prize at the ULJUS International Music Competition in Smederevo (Serbia), as well as Second Prizes at the City of Palmanova International Music Competition (Italy), the International Competition Luigi Cerritelli (Italy), and the Beethoven Young Music Competition in Vienna (Austria). In March 2023, they received the Third Prize at the Giulio Rospigliosi International Music Competition in Lamporecchio (Italy), along with the Special Prize “Musique et Patrimoine en Vienne et Gartempe.”

The quartet made its concert debut within the “Concerti a Palazzo” festival organized by the Serenissima Ensemble Association in Sacile, and later performed in Grado at the Basilica of Saint Euphemia as part of the “Concerti Estivi” series organized by the Corale Città di Grado Association.

Currently, New Era Quartet continues its artistic development at the Giuseppe Tartini Conservatory of Trieste, studying under Alberto Franchin (Quartetto Noûs), and participating in masterclasses led by Sergio Lamberto and Simone Gramaglia (Quartetto di Cremona). In 2022, the ensemble was selected to join the prestigious Le Dimore del Quartetto network.

Alongside its classical repertoire, New Era Quartet is actively exploring new artistic paths. In 2025, the ensemble completed the recording of a special project dedicated to sevdah, featuring nine sevdalinkas reimagined through classical string quartet arrangements. This project highlights the expressive voice of Kristina Mlinar, the quartet’s first violinist, and was recorded at the renowned Pavarotti Music Center in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The album offers a deeply emotional musical journey, bridging the richness of Balkan tradition with the language of contemporary classical music. The release is scheduled for early spring 2026.
